DETAILS OF SOME OF THE TALKS

Aspects of being a Local Historian (Without slides)

I talk about the type of work in which I have become involved, the groups I visit, research etc. I bring a range of items that I have collected during my research and the world wide contacts of local history.

Seaside Souvenirs (Without slides)

For this talk I bring with me a number of souvenirs that have been collected over the years and look at who made them and the changing styles.

Bognor A.L.G (Without slides)

The story of the Bognor Regis Advanced Landing Ground that was used prior to D-Day in 1944 by numerous squadrons including the Norwegians.

Bognor Regis Pier history (Slides)

I chart the history of the Bognor Regis Pier which was in fact the 19th seaside pier to be built. In addition I also provide a talk on the history of the seaside pier.

A little piece of cardboard (Slides)

My slides show the wide variety of images available, as we take a look at the story of the humble picture postcard from the 1800s to the present day.

English seaside resorts (Slides)

With information from many sources we will take a look at the development of our seaside resorts from the 1800s to the present day. What was available to the British holiday maker in the past?

One Man’s dream (Slides)

With images from many sources we take a stroll through the history of the iconic Butlin’s holiday camps since the 1930s, from the perspective of the holiday maker and an employee.

One Man’s back garden (Slides)

What do you know about Hotham Park? It was originally the garden of Sir Richard Hotham, Bognor’s founder, and we will learn of it’s history and uses over the years.

Bognor Regis architecture (Slides)

We will take a look at the architectural changes within Bognor Regis, a seaside resort, from the 1700s to the present day. Viewing changing styles through different eras.

Photographic history of Bognor (Slides)

Do you know who it was that took the images of our town, which we enjoy today whilst we look at the history of our town?

Above are just some of the titles available for you as an evening's entertainment, 'after dinner' talks or a fund raising event.

I am able to provide my own projector, screen and stand and therefore only require a 3-pin socket. Please contact me for more information.

Please contact me by email or telephone to arrange fees, dates and subjects.

If you do not wish to have a slide show, then arrangements can be made for non-visual talks.
